Life is but a Dream

Life is but a dream,
for Beyonce, yes, yes it is. For the rest of us, life is life.
Some days good, some not so good.
Here at the Harlow household, we've seen our better days as of late.

I'm not sure if we pissed off the appendix Gods or something,
but ever since Chris gave that little organ the heave-ho illness has taken over our house.
One shouldn't just give up an organ so easily, you know? All actions have consequences.
I woke up yesterday morning and could hardly breath I was so sick.
And by "morning" I mean noon.
It probably didn't help I was waking up every two hours when Chris's pain medication alarm would go off, throw in that and the fact I haven't had a winter coat for a week now ever since my zipper broke.
 #fourthgradeprobs
I haven't had a winter coat just break on me since my Nebraska Starter Jacket back in the 90s.
Talk about worst possible outcome for a ten year old.
"Not my Starter jacket!!!! Now what will I suck on if I don't have the big cold metal S in hand???"

I knew it had gotten bad when today I was at the grocery store and saw a coat in the lost and found
and caught myself thinking, damn that's a nice looking zipper...
So anyway, yesterday I literally slept all day long.
It was one of those days where I would wake up at 5 p.m. and think,
oh my gosh it's already 5 a.m.! Nope still Tuesday.
I hate those days, they make me feel so worthless.
And then Harlow started throwing up.
Which wasn't that surprising considering how many shoes he ate while we were at the hospital.

Harlow has the most guilty "I did it" face in the world.
And he refuses to look at his damage, absolutely refuses.
And I should also note that he's a bit bulimic, he basically throws up all the time.
Leather, rope, matches, I've seen it all.

So between Chris not being able to move, Harlow eating every shoe in the house,
and me having the worst cold ever, it's been a rough few days.
Oh well, what can you do...
When we were sitting in the hospital on Sunday Chris joked,
"guess 2013 isn't our year after all."
But I refuse to believe that. I am the eternal optimist.
Good things are coming.... They are.
Like Jimmy Johns, I just ordered my sub about three minutes ago and that means they should be arriving in less than thirty seconds. They seriously are freaky fast here.

That's all I've got.
Chris just dropped his pain meds and the poor thing can't pick anything up to save his life.
Is it Friday yet? Or I should say is it summer yet?

  1. Oh dear! I hope everyone gets back to feeling good, soon! Harlow included!

My Monday-Tuesday was spent in a drug induced coma. Ok, not really. I was on Vicodin from getting a tooth pulled and slept like 30 hours. haha

  2. Gah! I hope everyone starts feeling better soon!

Maybe you should start downing Emergen-C. I swear that stuff is the best thing that ever happened to me. Even if it does taste like bad orange soda!

  3. Harlow is too stinkin' cute. He's wise beyond his years. I look like a deer in the headlights whenever I get caught in the wrong. Lessons from Harlow. New blog post idea right there.

  5. Hope he feels better! My boyfriend had to get his out a few months ago. He actually used webmd to self diagnose and now he thinks webmd is always accurate. We've made 1 too many emergency room visits because he thought he had a blood clot in his chest or some other ridiculous ailment.

  15. Only you could make me laugh and feel happy over appendicitis, shoes being eaten and zipper loss. Seriously.

  16. I don't have a Jimmy Johns near me. So, that sucks. I would have such a hard time not playing jokes on Chris with the fact that he can't bend down to get anything. I would probably end up with a reality show just for that- "Real Bitch Girlfriends" or something equally clever.
But really... I hope you all get to feeling better soon!! Chris, you, Harlow, the shoes, and the appendix!

  20. My lab eats everything! Expo markers to tooth brushes to a whole steak...she takes paper plates out of the trash can and licks them...

  21. Starter Jackets!! I love that you brought those up. I loved mine so much...and my matching adidas. I was bad ass! :) I hope you all feel better soon. I had to pull poop out of my dog's butt today because she was trying to poop out a sock she ate last night...puking might have been a more pleasant option, so consider yourself lucky!

  27. How many shoes does Harlow actually eat. And more importantly, how do you not lose your mind?? I'd be so freaking mad.

  28. Ugh, I feel you on the dog bulimia. I too have a dog who loves to give everything the old taste test then barf it up on the carpet. While he likes the occasional shoe, he prefers to steal food out of the pantry (that is baby locked and taped shut. Ghet-to.) and eat it, wrapper and all. Oh hey there, fruit leathers! So gross, but you can't help but love them anyway.
