Going Blind

Chris and I left Chicago at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning en route for Steamboat (with a brief two day stop in Nebraska.)

One of us was more excited about the eight hour drive than the others.

It was smooth sailing until we hit an ice storm around Des Moines and I went into freakout mode and told Chris we should just pull over. Driving on ice is probably my biggest fear in life. I’d rather sky dive or swim with sharks or jump through fire than drive on ice. I am literally terrified of it. When we passed an eight car wreck I pretty much wanted to turn back. Luckily, Chris is braver than me and doesn’t quite freak out like I do so he continued on and got us to Omaha safely.

When we arrived in Omaha I went right to Kontempo and got my hair colored and cut by the great Amy Todd. It was a hard decision to make, but I decided to say farewell to my incredibly natural platinum hair in lieu of something a little darker for once.

Amy “added some depth” to my hair by running a little bit of dark through it, or as I like to say she made it just a little less white trashy than usual. And my favorite part was how fast she was! I know some gals love sitting for hours in a salon getting “pampered” or whatever, but I’m just not that gal. I pretty much hate getting my hair done.  Amy didn’t rush me by any means, but she was efficient as hell. So if you’re in the Omaha area and are shopping for a new stylist I would highly recommend Amy from Kontempo, or really any stylist there for that matter because they’re all great. And no they didn’t tell me to blog about them, I’m simply doing so because I’m a hard one to please when it comes to my hair, so when I find someone good I need to tell the world.

To celebrate my new do I met Lola and Jade for a couple of dirty martinis in a hotel bar, like classy girls do.

And then five minutes later we went up to the room and Knox threw the phone at my eye and cut my eyelid open. He thought I broke his iPad so he got pissed. An i for an eye, aunt Tay Tay he screamed as he hurled the phone across the room… This pic of my bruised left eye is blurry, but so was my vision.

But we’re fine today, he gave me a robot Valentine to make up for his bad behavior.

My sister really raised the bar with these Valentines this year. When I was a kid my Valentines were just crappy little cartoon cut-outs with a single Starburst taped to them. I would have lost my shit had I been given a juice box dressed as a robot when I was little. Hell, I lost my shit when I was given one yesterday.

And then to top it off my mom made a killer batch of Italian Wedding Soup. Her meatballs in this soup are basically the size of spaghetti meatballs. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

After lunch it was time for a little impromptu photo shoot. I’m kind of going through a hat phase right now, have you noticed? It was a little windy when these photos were taken so I had to keep pushing it down to keep it from blowing right off. But the photo shoot had to go on because I have to show you all of my new Stella & Dot jewelry I’ve recently aquired that I am absolutely loving.

I’m wearing the Rebel Pendant around my neck and the Renegade Cluster bracelet on my wrist.

I was approached by a friend to help host a trunk show for Stella & Dot and thought why the heck not? I’m a huge fan of their jewelry and have truly loved every piece I have ever purchased. If you’re in the mood to shop around just click this link and get to browsing! Even better, every person who shops through this link will be entered to win this awesome Renegade Bracelet.

And still windy…

But smiling like an idiot never the less.

So if you’re a Stella & Dot fan, start shopping away!

And that’s all I’ve got for today. As you’re reading this think of me on a ten hour road trip into the mountains, with two crazy dogs in tow; Harlow and his cousin, Vandal. Chances are I need a drink…

That pic of Harlow's mouth is the best thing ever. I DO NOT DRIVE ON ICE. I will stay in a dirty motel and pay triple the price. I'm really liking your hair. And hate to sit there all day, she sounds legit.

I don't know to where but you need to enter that picture of Harlow out the window to some sort of contest.

I want a juice box robot!! And I'm as terrified as you to drive on the ice. It's awful! I'd rather do just about anything than drive in an ice storm. Like, why does winter even have to exist at all?

That storm was no joke! After you passed it it turned into a closer to 20 car pile up with 2 semis. My husband and I drove by it around 430 on our way to Des Moines from Newton. Glad you are safe! Loving that hair!

I'm the same way with ice…I hate driving in snow, but make it ice and I'm a wreck. My husband is cool, calm, and collected and gets through it no big deal. Like you, I would rather pull over, or turn around, or not even go in the first place. I guess that's why we let the boys drive, right?

I was in two almost should've killed me wrecks when I lived in Wyoming due the snow. Driving in snow never use to bother me but now I refuse to deal with it. And I love that hair color on you. It works great with your skin tone!
