27 Quick Ways To Increase Blog Traffic

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Write content that you would want to read.

Link old posts in current posts as often as possible.

Use searchable key words in your title.

The same idea goes for naming your photos when you save them to your computer.

Comment on other blogs. Then comment some more.

And when you get comments try to respond as often as possible.

If you have the time and desire, don't be afraid to post more than once per day.

Participate in link-ups.

Better yet, host your own link-up. People might not catch on at first, but they will eventually.

Toss in a video (or vlog) every once in awhile.

Utilize the power of Pinterest! Nobody does this better than this girl.

Always choose a great first image that you would want to appear next to your post on Bloglovin.

Don't hesitate to Tweet old posts you wrote months or even years ago that you still really like.

Always use a graphic when promoting posts on your Facebook page.

Speaking of Facebook, when you write a post you really like pay $5 to "promote" it on Facebook. I do this from time to time and have always had pretty good results.

Create your hashtags on Instagram. Erin does an amazing job at this.

Guest post on other blogs.

Every once in a while write a post that could be shared by the masses.

Choose attention grabbing titles.

Try to include at least one image with every post.

List your most popular posts somewhere that is easy for your readers to find them.

Post consistently and post often.

Market yourself with other bloggers you like and admire.

Write posts that people can learn from, like this one about SEO.

Share other's blog posts and they will be more likely to share yours.

And most importantly, after you click publish go ahead blast that baby on every social media outlet you have.

If all else fails just try to post more photos of babies, food, or dogs. BFD always seems to be a fan favorite in blogland.

  3. Love these tips, Taylor! I didn't realize that naming your photos on your desktop mattered at all - I usually save it as a random bunch of numbers and letters that show up automatically. I'll definitely have to start naming more knowledgeably!

    Thanks for sharing :)

  11. Thanks for all the ideas! I needed some! I'm hesitant to get onto social media even though I know it would be hugely beneficial. I don't want to get so sucked into the internet!

  13. So I have a question (great list, by the way!). On the commenting thing - pretty much all the blog tips I've read say the same thing - it's imperative to respond to comments! Make your readers feel heard! I've gotten a few and made a point of doing just that and responding as soon as I got a chance but then my mom mentioned that she feels once the author has commented it kind of closes the topic for any other people who might want to say something.

Is that just the difference between why a blogger would comment vs a reader who doesn't have his/her own blog? Or maybe it's good to respond, but wait a while to give other readers a chance to comment?

    1. You should turn your no-reply comment status off so it's easier to respond :) most times the blogger just responds via email because that's where the comment comes through, so no one is really able to see whether the comment is closed or not. hope this helps!

    2. Thank you! Someone told me today and I had to google it, because I thought I understood what "no-reply" meant and I didn't. I fixed it! (I think) Also, just discovered this respond to comments via email thing, which is brilliant since it's a pain to keep checking posts to see if the author has responded. I'm getting so educated today! Thanks again!!!

  24. Great tips! I am just starting out and I've found that commenting on other blog posts has brought the most people to my blog. That and Facebook!

I still haven't figured out the whole Blogger profile vs Google + profile. They look the same as far as my comments go!

  36. These were some nice tips. I've been blogging for three and a half years now, but with no particular focus. I make it a policy to respond to every comment that every person writes on my blog, on the site.

Your advice about linking to old posts: great idea as it may encourage new readers to look through older posts to get the blog's history.
