Wish Me Luck

Something crazy happened this past weekend in Chicago. The snow started to melt. And it was wonderful. The entire city is covered in a thick layer of brown icy mush and it's just beautiful.

To celebrate the nice weather Harlow and I set out in our rain boots and walked around for a solid two hours listening to the Serial podcast. I know I'm late to the show on this one, but that's nothing new. I have only 20 minutes left in the last episode and I know the case isn't solved. So who killed Hae? Adnon or Jay? ADNON OR JAY?

Beyond helping solve crimes from the late 90s, I'm also in the midst of rolling out a new blog design soon. If there's one thing bloggers love more than coffee and stupid selfies, it's new blog layouts. I'm just as guilty. I get jollies thinking about refreshing this little space of mine. That being said, here is a stupid selfie (you can't see the coffee, but it's there) plotting the new design.

And I'm proud to say I scored these jeans for $20 on sale at the Urban outlet by my house. But as my dad would say, "I don't know why you'd pay anything at all for those jeans, they're ripped." Well said dad, well said.

And then I took a break to bathe myself in these cheap cheap delicious sugar cookies. These little babies are a Target/Walmart delicacy. I only treat myself to them twice a year: Halloween and Valentines Day. I like to disguise my poor taste in desserts with my love for random holidays.

I tried to limit myself to only two per day. I think there's only two left at this point.

I didn't mean to turn this post into a foodie post, but here we are. Sweet Harlow thought this Kuma's burger was for him. Bless his heart.

Promptly after eating this massive hunk of burger I made the decision to start working out. For real this time. I downloaded a workout routine and my new life starts today.

So wish me luck. It's a 12 week "fitness plan" and I'm really hoping I can stick with it for more than a day. On that note, I guess it's time to start those mountain climbers and burpees... Like I said, wish me luck.

Ugh.

  1. Haha those cookies re pure sugar but the way they melt in your mouth tastes like love to me. Idk if they have Kroger's in Chicago, but they almost always have free samples on them out by the bakery to get your fix lol. Good luck with the burpees!

  2. I love those cookies, too! And I'm so glad you listened to Serial - one of the best podcasts out there! I'm not too happy with the ending, but hey, that's life.

  4. We've been getting those cookies at our house too. They're just so gosh darn wonderful. And The dirty melted snow makes me sad. Yes... it'll be easier to drive and such and my face doesn't hurt the moment I walk out the door because of the cold... blah blah blah. But at least the snow was pretty to look at. Now I'm just cold and it looks ugly outside.

  5. Yay for the Chicago snow melting! I am anticipating seeing those cookies pop up somewhere in my life this week, they always do. I'm also really excited to see your new layout. Do you make them yourself or do you have them made?

  6. Thinking about the ripped jeans reminds me of my youth, when I "innocently" took scissors to my own pants. I don't know whether it was in response to others' "ripped jeans" styles (in second grade... really?) or just my boredom in class at the time.

  11. I just started listening to Serial this past week and I'm hooked!! I'm only on the 6th episode. Is it bad that my toddler listens to it with me in the car?

Please tell me there are some other, equally engrossing podcasts I can listen to after this one?

  12. Uh, those cookies are the devil. I think if Dane could buy stock in them, he would. I don't think there's a single person on this planet that hasn't either 1. heard of them or 2. take pleasure in buying them for any and all occasions. Also, give Harlow a bite of the hamburger! And ick....mountain climbers.

  15. I'm with your dad on the ripped jeans! Although for $20 that's not bad. I don't know what it is about those type of cookies, they're really not great but they're addicting. What's your favorite from Kuma's? It's been on my list to visit for forever and 2015 will be the year!

  16. Good luck girl - you got this! Ease into it - I see so many people kill themselves when they first start a fitness plan and a week (or a day) later they are just over it. Slow & steady! lol

  17. I was late to the 'Serial' game too. I was so obsessed with it when I started it, I didn't want it to be over! I am very excited about the appeal that just was ok'd this weekend.

  24. HA so today was National Pizza Day...so naturally the hubs and I got a monster-sized pizza at Costco and now I feel like I'm going to have a pizza baby...so the thought of me living at the gym for the next few weeks most definitely crossed my mind...the thought of a bikini right now makes me cry. But yay for melting snow!!!

  25. 1) I just finished Serial this weekend! I'm entirely convinced Adnan and Jay both played a major role in the murder, but that it's not as straightforward as we think. They're definitely both hiding some major plot points that we're not privy to!

    2) Ha, is it the Kayla Itsines BBG guides?! I really want to try it out!!
