How To Survive The Last Weekend in February In Chiberia

The last Friday of February started with a Bloody Mary around 5:00 p.m. Please note the window in this photo. It is still light outside at 5:00 p.m.!

We are getting closer. To spring? To warmer weather? To April? To be honest, I’m really not sure yet, maybe just to longer days. Regardless, change is in the air.

$2 beers from Whole Foods are also in the air. A new store just opened by us and so Chris and I went there for drinks on Friday night. I repeat, we went for drinks at Whole Foods on a Friday night. *Signs you’re getting older: your Friday night entails “going out” to a grocery store.

But I’ll be damned if I didn’t enjoy myself. What’s not to love about drinks at a grocery store? I mean there were cheese samples on the way to the restrooms, does life get much better? I don’t think so.

We took our pizza to-go because we both agreed we like to binge eat in the privacy of our own home, and while wearing very old ugly sweatpants.

Saturday we froze our buns off with Harlow at the park for about an hour while the snow continued to fall.

Harlow played king of the mountain. And then he jumped off and peed on every corner of the mountain.

We ended near the jungle gym where he threw his usual “I’m not ready to leave” tantrum.  I feel like when I have kids someday they’re going to be a walk in the park compared to having a Harlow.

After the park Chris and I said to each other, “you know where we haven’t been in a while? Whole Foods.” So we went back yet again for more beers and oysters on Saturday afternoon.

I like to think we look like cool hipsters in this photo. But I’m pretty sure we both just look like we have huge heads.

And right now these two are snoozing on the couch while I try to get some things ready for tomorrow.

The first Monday of March is here. Maybe if we play our cards right it will be May in the blink of an eye.

Two cool hipsters drinking beer at a grocery story. . . I like it. Happy March. Or at the very least, Tolerable March.

I didn't know Whole Foods served beer? What kind of other fun adult things am I missing out on?

I thought the weather was pretty nice this weekend. But maybe it was different in Evanston, since weather can be so localized in the Midwest.

I'm totally getting through every day right now by reminding myself that a month ago we were covered in blizzards and a month from now most of the snow will (hopefully) be gone. Spring is coming! Eventually! At too slow a speed!

The Whole Foods near where I was staying (in a convent no less) in London summer of 07' was 3 stories tall. Needless to say I spent almost all my money there going daily.

Whole Foods sure knows how to reel people in!

Loving the new blog layout also – very cute and simple!

i feel you…we get overly excited that we each get to 'make our own salads' and 'order our own pizza' and 'pick 7 cookies from the make your own cookie box' so it's legit. you are also making me want to try a bloody mary…i feel like i'm not mature enough to like tomatoes yet. maybe when i turn 29…

That photo at the end is priceless. My dog does thinks she ways nothing at 70 pounds too. I love cooler weather but I'm over feeling like my toes are going to break off at any second and the stiffness in my fingers because they're the only thing I can't cover while I'm working on the computer. We officially lost when our temperatures went lower than Alaska.

We go to 'wine school' monthly at our Whole Foods and have entirely too much fun. The 6 or 7 glasses for $5 may have something to do with that though.

    love the new look!

I've definitely heard from others that having babies is a lot easier than having doggies. Especially in the winter!
