Eating and Drinking in Dublin

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Groupon Getaways for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

It’s about that time for another Euro recap. I’ve hardly even touched on Dublin yet and I know more than a few of you have upcoming trips planned to beautiful Ireland so I’ve got just a bit more to say about my Groupon Getaways vacation.

Oh Irish breakfast, how I miss you. I quickly decided that I love the way the people in Ireland start their day. Just look at this plate of goodness. I ate this every single day we were there.

I also figured out that a solid breakfast gives you a good solid base for drinking beer. And yes, I did gain some weight in Europe. Thanks for asking. I may be purchasing a Groupon  to every gym in Chicago still thanks to this trip. But it was so worth it.

So now let’s talk about Guinness.

We opted to forego the guided tour and instead went straight to the sky bar to drink some beer and check out the cool view. I don’t regret this for a second. In fact just looking at this now makes me want to go back. How often do you get to sit on top of Dublin and drink a Guinness from the very place it’s created? It’s pretty cool.

After Guinness we made our way over to Jameson. I’m not typically a whiskey drinker, but they served a wonderful hot cider whiskey that was absolutely perfect for a cold Dublin day.

Chris, on the other hand, is a big whiskey drinker. So being at Jameson was like being at Disney World for him. Just look how excited he is… He’s so excited he looks like a nervous statue.

The cool thing about the Jameson tour is that you get to sample a bunch of whiskey (Chris drank my samples) and the tour guide was super knowledgable and also very hilarious. I would definitely suggest this tour if you like whiskey, or even if you don’t. It’s a good thing to do while in Ireland.

And speaking of suggestions, when you go to Dublin you have to eat at Boxty. We never eat at the same place twice on vacation, but we shamefully ate here two nights in a row… It was that good. Below is the stew sampler platter with a side of homemade bread. I ate every last bit.

The night before I got the fish and chips at Boxty (I ate fish chips about ten times while in Europe) and they were also delicious.

The only thing I regret not doing in Ireland was visiting the countryside. That was something I really wanted to see but we just never got a chance to do. When we booked this trip there was also a different Groupon Getaways in Ireland where you could rent a car and stay at bed and breakfasts all over the Irish countryside. That may be the next thing we do….

Have you been to Ireland? If so, what did I leave out? I feel like there’s never enough time over there. Until we meet again, Europe… It’s always a pleasure.

I loved Ireland but didn't really do the countryside, only a few cities and took trains in between so it's not like I could stop wherever I wanted. My husband lived there for three months so he did it all. We're going back next year for my Dad's 60th so we'll do both. I'm looking forward to that! I'll have to remember Boxty.

I LOVED visiting Ireland in 2013 and so excited to be going back this November. We started off in Galway and made our way down south along the coast and then ended up in Dublin. I loved Dublin but I have to say Galway was probably my favorite city we stayed in. And yes, the countryside is amazing. I had wanted to visit Ireland since I was a child so when we flew in and I saw the green pastures with the rock walls I actually started crying I was so excited. Even driving in the country it brought tears to my eyes on how beautiful that country is and picturesque. And the people!! They were all so nice!

I'm not like you, I could have done without the Irish breakfast but the pastries that we found every morning were delish!

So glad you enjoyed your time there!

A stew platter? Interesting. However, that one on the bottom left, does not look appealing to this girl. Ha! The rest though looks delicious! 🙂

Man the country side was my favorite! We rented a car in Dublin and drove across the country to the Cliffs of Moher. There were so many ruins and cool features that we ended up stopping randomly to explore them. It was amazing! Also cheer's to the fish and chips I ate that about 10 times also, that and dairy. The cheese and yogurt was better than I've ever had! I miss it!

Some Green supplements doesn’t exactly taste like a milk shake or your favorite soft drink. If the taste is an issue for you too, simply add a drop or two of stevia to your green drink.
