We Have A Date- a wedding update

We finally set a date!

June 24, 2015 at 9 a.m. That’s the big day. I’ve gone back and forth about this a lot because it makes me nervous, but the skin tag under Harlow’s arm pit has to be removed, so on June 24th it’s coming off.

I’m an asshole… I know. Although there really is a skin tag that must be removed on Harlow. I just hate putting him under to do these types of things because I’ve read every terrible story on the internet about how some dogs don’t wake up and then I work myself into a nervous frenzy. Does anyone else cry when their dog has to leave their side for a few hours because they have serious dependency issues and separation anxiety? Just me? Cool cool.

But back to the real date. The date everyone likes to ask me about. The date that every other girl BUT me seems to set the very day they get engaged. That date.

Tape up the streamers and get out the fancy clear balloons from Wal Mart with something really cool inside like a teddy bear holding a lolly pop because we actually have a date!

July 23, 2016. *I just had to confirm in my planner this is the actual date, I think it’s right.

Is this the date of my parents anniversary? No. Is it Chris’s parents? No. Grandparents? Not sure.

It’s the date of something much more important.

July 23rd, 1997 is the day I competed in my first ever Cornhusker State Games Girls Under 12 Track Meet. And I won.

I won the high jump and I almost won the 100 meter dash. For the sake of this post and my future wedding date, let’s say I won the 100, as well. On this date I just had a feeling I would go on to do big things. I think I even wrote in my Limited Too diary I was pretty sure I’d be at the next Olympics. Clearly my child’s intuition was spot on.

July 23rd is also the day I went to my first summer camp and really found myself.

And it just happens to be the day I taped my first “Made” video for MTV in junior High. “Hey MTV, it’s me Taylor and I want to be a surfer girl! But I live in the Nebraska and the only waves I see are waves of cornfields!” *cue studio laughter.

So this day is clearly full of monumental events.

And in 2016 it will be the day Chris and I tie the knot in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We haven’t worked out all of the details, but we’re hoping to do an outdoor ceremony at Lake Catamount followed by a tented reception.

So coffee cheers to Colorado!

I invite you all to come on this wonderful journey and listen to me blog about every last detail for the next 15 months. First things first, where can I get a handsome tuxedo for Harlow? Second things second, is anyone friends with Taylor Swift? I kind of want her to sing at my wedding. If you can hook this up I’d really appreciate it.

*If I find the Made video at my parents house and can figure out how to put it on here I promise to post it. It’s too good not to.

WOOHOO! I'm so happy you've finally settled on a day to get Harlow's skin tag removed. Those bastards can be a real nuisance. And Steamboat–toot toot (sorry, had to)–sounds like HEAVEN! I recently saw someone (via Instagram) get married there and it was absolutely stunning!

I really hope you find that made video! It sounds too good, and a clever scheme for a beach vacation. My dog was in the hospital last week for an emergency surgery and came through just fine thank god but I'm still a nervous wreck and it's been almost a week, so I definitely know how it feels. I am obsessed with her and she hates it.

Congratulations on setting a date, that's exciting news! If i ever bump into Taylor on the streets of ny I'll pass her your info.

I'm pretty sure I had just as bad separations anxiety as my dog. I'm ridiculous.

Yay for the date being set! Sounds like it will be a gorgeous location.

Congrats on setting the date and location!! Those are big steps!! It will be gorgeous in the mountains of Colorado (with Harlow of course- he really will make the entire wedding)

    And good luck Harlow!

Yay, congrats on setting a date! And yes to Harlow in a tuxedo!

Sounds beautiful. The steamboat springs wedding, not the skin tag on Harlow. We went skiing there in February and, wowza, gorgeous. I love your laid-back approach to wedding planning. I accidentally clicked on a blog post the other day that was solely dedicated to asking the ring bearer to be the ring bearer. And she was serious. I am clearly not in that blogging target audience. So, cheers to a fun wedding, but an even better life!

The weather will be amazing that time of year. Enjoy the planning process–before you know it, the date is here! 🙂

Yay for setting both dates. It is so scary to let your dog go under at the vet but I am sure Harlow will be in good hands.
Colorado is so beautiful, aaah so exciting!

Yayyy! Probably my favorite wedding announcement ever, by the way.

Yes! Please post the video! And also, yaaa for a wedding date! And a date for Harlow. And he'll be okay! Don't worry girl! But yes, I totally get you and the anxiety! Chara just basically scratched her face off this past weekend from 2 whole days of pond swimming and an itchy ear infection. We freaked when we saw the sides of her head bleeding! How could we have not noticed her doing that or woke up in the night with all that scratching? So, after freaking out, a sane person near us who wasn't having a meltdown suggested we take her to the vet, so we took her and he cut a whole bunch of hair off her face to let all the wounds breath. So now she looks like a zombie dog, with pus-E (i just wrote pussy…said, "wait a second.." and re-read that. bahaha, shoot, it still reads that way!), anyways she has pus-E, oozy stuff running off her face. (that sentence did not get better.) It's gross, but I feel terrible for her! I know it must feel awful! Poor thing. So, ya. Totally get the freaking out over your pet thing!

July 23 is a great date… and it reminds me of how July 21 has become an important date for me (2000 and 2011). Who knows if I eventually get married… would it happen then?
