Girl Time

Yesterday went something like this:

I picked up this beauty from the airport around noon. Harlow absolutely loves her as you can see. Although he gets a little confused when I talk to her because my “Lola voice” is the same as my “Harlow voice” it turns out.

We went to a new restaurant in my neighborhood called Applebees. Jk, it’s called Standard Market Grill. It was really good, but not nearly as fun as Applebees.
I had the best chicken tortilla soup and ahi tuna salad. Although I’d probably eat bark if it had ahi tuna on it (and a little bit of dressing.)

There may have also been some champagne. And yes, as you can see I got extra fancy and even curled my hair. Typically during the week I don’t wear makeup or even blow-dry my hair, so it was nice to feel like a girl again. I should do it more often.

Lola was thrilled to be at lunch with just the girls. She apparently has had a long couple of weeks at the office and was really looking forward to getting away for a few days. She really gets after the bottle hard, if you know what I mean.

So we had a few toasts in honor of Lola’s first trip to Chicago.

Then she and I had a talk about why her big brother is being so ornery as of late. I made her promise me to never go through the terrible-twos, she can save that for the terrible twenty-twos.

And after we had a very nice stranger take a photo of the three of us we walked a few blocks down the street to my favorite little French restaurant, Mon Ami Gabi.

Because it was a gorgeous evening, we were able to sit outside- which was perfect because Mon Ami has a wonderful little patio that sits right across from the park.

We had some seafood and some dirty martinis. I don’t love dirty martinis yet, but I’m trying, damn it. I do, however, love the blue cheese olives that come with a dirty.

And then Grizzly Adams joined us for a drink or two. I wish this photo wasn’t so dark so you can see the lovely beard Chris is growing. He said forget Beardvember, he’s getting a jump on it and going for Beardtober. I don’t hate it.

And there’s a little photo overload for you. Happy hump day! *And just for the record, Grizzly Adams did have a beard.

I can relate to the baby talk/dog voice -aka- high pitched squeal. You look stunning in all of those pictures! I hear ya on not wearing makeup or doing your hair. I too feel like a brand new woman when I pull myself together and spruce up a bit.

That baby is gorgeous! I'm jealous that you have a baby to play with – my niece and nephew are too old now 🙁
And I concur. I would also be an ahi tuna-topped bark-eater.

Aw that picture with Harlow snuggling Lola is too cute! Looks like you guys had a great time 😀
That's funny Chris got a jump on beardvember! I've been telling John he needs to do no-shave November, at least until he told me that it was just a mustache to which I replied heck no! But I don't want him to shave in November, ha ha.

Lola is too cute, and love the name. What a great pic with you and your Mom. I use to hate beard but I gotta say I have seen a lot of dudes rocking the beard and I am not hating it.
