The First Day of the Rest of 2014

Follow your passions, believe in karma, and you won’t have to chase your dreams; they will come to you.” — Randy Pausch

I woke up today with an unusual sense of excitement about the start of a new year. But then I realized that might not be excitement I’m experiencing but perhaps it’s simply the feeling of not being hungover on January 1st. Regardless, I woke up refreshed. The benefits of not going out last night just keep on coming in. I think I’ve found a new tradition for myself!

Anyway, we’ve been celebrating the first day of the year by doing a lot of playing in the snow. The park was absolutely packed with children and their sleds, and dogs and their snow boots. Harlow saw that the playground area was free of any children so naturally that’s right where he ran. We played on the slides and ran through the jungle gym until both of us were absolutely soaked in snow. Chris looked at us like we were insane. And that’s okay because we are.

Resolution #27: make more friends that aren’t dogs. This is going to be a hard one.

Now we’re cozied up on the couch watching the Huskers play the Georgia Bulldogs. Tree will have to come down tomorrow. Or maybe the next day, I’m in no hurry.

Happy 2014, everyone. I’ve got a good feeling about this year.

My mom always said it was bad luck to take down the Christmas tree before the new year anyway so there really isn't a rush.

I spent the afternoon playing with my doggy in the snow yesterday. We may do it again today because I, too, am putting off taking down my tree & other decorations. I swore I'd do it today but it's hard to motivate myself when snuggling under the blanket while it's snowing outside just seems more logical on a day like this! Have a very happy 2014! 🙂

"Make more friends that aren't dogs"…hmmm maybe I should add that one to my resolution list as well.

What a fun day! AND you must be thrilled about Nebraska's win!

I've just been informed christmas decorations are to stay up until January 6th, as that's when the 12 days of Christmas ends. My life is turned upside down because I thought the 12 days of christmas were the days leading up to Christmas.

Love all your pictures! The snow is gorgeous (: also love that your dog will play on the playground. Ours never have and would probably just stare at us like we were dummies!

    Happy New Year!

P.S. I'm in no rush to take down the tree either *so depressing* but I'm sure it'll come down this weekend.

Sounds like our NYE–we stayed in with our goldendoodle, Millie (we also had a similar play date with her on Christmas day at the local playground, minus the snow). I think making more friends that aren't dogs is a good resolution–we should hold each other accountable on that one.
