The Night Harlow Went on a Rampage

Remember that nice little ditty I wrote about Harlow yesterday? All of that rosey nonsense about “why we work?” Harlow pretty much took everything I said about him and threw it back in my face. Last night while Chris and I were out for our very classy Valentine dinner, Harlow was running a rampage through our house.
You might have seen a photo of our classy meal on Instagram, if not I’m happy to post it again. Chris said “only the best for my Valentine” so he treated me to mini sliders, tots, mac and cheese bites and chicken wings all from our favorite restaurant, Dukes. That guy, he’s just an old fashioned romantic I tell ya. You wanna know how I know you’re fancy? You eat at a restaurant called Dukes for Valentines Day.
But anyway, back to Hurricane Harlow. When we got home (after being gone for less than two hours) Harlow had clearly taken out his aggression for being left out of our Valentines Day dinner on our shoes. The first shoe that was chewed in half was in the living room and it belonged to Chris. Then Chris walked into the bedroom and found one of my heels without a heel… And then to top it all off Harlow grabbed the trash from under my desk and literally poured it all over the room as if to say “you two wanna treat me like trash and not take me to dinner? Well then I’ll show you TRASH.”
This photo was taken just hours before the devastation.  He’s got an awfully menacing look in his eye… I can’t help but wonder if he was plotting it at this time.

He was definitely plotting it.

I just don’t know what got into him. Har hasn’t eaten shoes forever and I can count the number of times he’s ever gotten into trash on one hand. My only guess is the holiday just got to him. He thought we were the three best friends and then we left him behind.

The moment we got home he buried his head in a blanket and refused to look at us. We could barely get him to go outside he was so upset with himself. We rarely punish Harlow because he does it so well himself. Sometimes he hides in the shower after a bad binge, or sometimes under the table, one time I caught him chain smoking cigarettes like a maniac in the bathroom after a bad chewing episode because he was so nervous. He just gets really down on himself…

Anyway, I don’t want to dwell. What’s done is done. I’m going to spend the rest of the day finishing up some last minute work and getting ready to head to Steamboat next week. We’re leaving this snowy place behind for yet another snowy place….

I hope you have a great Valentines Day whatever you’re doing! I might be a little sporadic with posting next week since I’ll be in the mountains but feel free to follow along on Instagram @taylorgracewolfe as I take more photos of Harlow frolicking in the snow and buying his first Space Cake!

Colorado here we come!

P.S. I’m officially up on the Laugh Factory website! (I am more excited about this than I’d like to admit.) Check it out here and message me for a coupon code if you’d like to buy tickets to come to my show. Everyone is invited!!! i.e. please come because I am very nervous.

I mean, it was pretty insensitive of you to just up and leave for Valentine's dinner without him. I don't blame him, really.

Well clearly you got what you deserve. Leaving him alone after all that nice stuff you said about him yesterday? Heartless!

We always know if Paoli has been up to something when we get home by her demeanor. Head down and no eye contact. I think a low key date to a favorite spot is the perfect Valentine's Day!

Aw poor Harlow. It's so sweet that he punishes himself. My dog pretends she feels guilty for about a half second before she's off doing the next spiteful thing so you are 200% aware that she is upset with you. Have the best time in Colorado next week! And congrats on going up on the website, that's awesome! I wish I could teleport to Chicago and come see your show.

Seriously girl, as much snow as you've had and you take a vacay somewhere cold? I'm confused…

AAhhh! Bingham does the same thing! We will have just got done singing his praises to someone only to walk in the house to a hurricane! So frustrating! LOL! But, He does the same as Harlow & punishes himself pretty well! HAHA! Hope y'all have fun in Steamboat… I'm a little jealous! Would love to go skiing this year!!

If I lived in Chicago, I'd totally come see you! Poor little Harlow buddy. He was definitely acting out, he's got some emotions you three are going to need to sit down and process together.

Isn't it strange how they punish themselves? It has always amazed me that dogs have the sense of, "Oh crap! I was bad!" Sadly, cats don't share the same sentiments. It is more of a, "You made me do it biotch!"

It must be the weather because my dogs have NEVER chewed shoes in all their 4 years but the past week or two they keep getting into them while we're gone and we are so confused! I think they're blaming all the snow on us.

Our dogs do that too, if they know they are in trouble they will put themselves in time out. Makes it easy for us! Bummer that he chewed up your shoes though!!

I love his little paw prints in the snow! 🙂 After seeing the delicious food you ate, I'm ALSO kind of pissed that you didn't invite me. #teamharlow
