I’m The Kinda Girl Who…

I’m the kinda who joins link-ups over two months late. Is that okay? Cool, because I just did it.

I’m also the kinda girl who…

Makes a list in my head every night while laying in bed of how I’m going to take over the world the next morning. And then I fail to accomplish any of them because I choose to sleep in instead. Happens every damn time.

When my computer chord is more than an arm’s reach away and I’m on my couch (like right now) I just accept the fact my computer is going to be dead for the next few hours until it’s absolutely necessary to get up again.

I’m the kinda girl who…

Doesn’t separate laundry. I once received an “undergarment bag” for high school graduation and I used it to keep hair accessories in.

I also like to keep my clean clothes in the dryer for as long as possible.

I’m the kinda girl who loves a good hair tutorial. Especially for braids…

I’m the kinda girl who…

Thinks that whenever I get a voicemail it means someone has died. Same goes for the “call me” text. Let’s just stop doing that, okay?

When an app mysteriously deletes on my phone I act as if someone just broke into my home and rearranged everything. I’m not for sure what’s missing but I know something is…

I’m the kinda girl who…

Gets a pedi about twice a year.

And a mani once a year.

That’s just an extravagance I won’t allow myself to have.

I’m the kinda girl who…

Packs for a move the night before it happens. One week from today Chris, Harlow and I are moving into our new place and I haven’t packed a single box.

I’ve thought about it. But what’s the point, I know I’m just going to toss everything into trash bags and pillow cases in the end anyway.

If I’m a bit absent  next week you’ll know why. I’ll be in full blown moving-hysteria. You haven’t lived until you’ve attempted a move in the city.

I’m the kinda girl who is beyond thankful to all of you who took the time to vote for my video by clicking the yellow “FUNNY” button on Funny Or Die yesterday! You guys did good, real good. The voting ends at midnight on Wednesday. The judges will then review the clips, the votes, the views, and they ultimately have the final decision. But I should know by next week. I’ll keep you posted. And if I don’t keep you posted just know it’s because I lost and I’m being a sore loser.

Jk, I’ll totally let you know either way.

I seem to always wait until the last minute to pack for anything, trip, a move. For some reason I think I pack better under pressure:)

Yes to the voicemail and text one! My mom still signs her texts off with mom and I know it's her texting me? Haha. 🙂

Picking one from each city on the tour! I should know by early next week…

definitely keep my clothes in the dryer for as long as possible. it's extra clothes storage in my opinion. sometimes I'll even take the pile of clothes out to quickly get the wrinkles out of some pants or a top before work and after that pile goes back into the dryer. it takes up too much of my life to fold every thing. i don't have time to do that shit.

and the voicemail/call me…definitely assume someone is dead. my mom even freaks out when she see's i've called her. if she misses my call she'll call me right back "is everything okay? what happened?"

Haha my mom is the same way, always a little too excited for what lack of news I'm about to share.

I get my laundry done and it is an extra $1.99 for them to separate it – nope.

i sent a text the other day that said EMERGENCY HELP CALL. that was a bit of an overreaction. but i really needed someone to pick up. nice hair, i can't wait to use this tutorial.

omg those "call me" texts give me more anxiety than trying to move an entire house in one night [i've done it too, don't worry]

    Good luck!

But you have a point with the moving thing… because if you start packing now and you need something you pack in the next week, what are you supposed to do? It's all just too much work.

We just did the moving thing. Good luck. Packing sucks. Unpacking sucks too. Moving is the worst. But new places are the best. You just can't win. And I stretch my computer cord to the max because I don't want to get up. And when it comes unplugged, you just have to let the computer die I guess. And I too hate the "call me" text.

Packing is the worst!! Be careful with the trashbag route though – I was moving out of my apartment in college and my roommate's mom thought my trashbag full of clothes was actual trash and threw it in the dumpster! While dumpster diving for my belongings that day I vowed to pack like a real person from then on.

My mom texted me to tell me that my great aunt had died, but called me in the middle of the work day (you know its bad when its at like 10 in the morning), made sure I was sitting down and told me that a kid from my home town (who was about 8 years younger than me, so I had never met him) had gone missing… oh communication etiquette….

I'm not really a pedicure type person either because it pains me to spend money like that. I decided this year though to get more pedicures, especially in the warmer weather. So I went a few weeks ago for my first pedicure in six months and the lady totally sliced open my toe. Now I'm wondering if this is a sign? Like Divine intervention telling me this is a bad decision to spend money on pedicures. But then I'm also like does Jesus/God give signs for pedicures?

I'd stay and chat about all the ways we're similar, but I'm off to copy your hair now.

  15. April 24, 2014 / 5:09 pm

Yes! I always get super nervous when I get a voicemail from someone. Though I do admit the "call me" text is pretty effective:)

  16. April 24, 2014 / 8:59 pm

I hate packing at the last minute and I hate packing too soon, so knowing when to pack is something I have a problem with

  17. April 25, 2014 / 12:21 am

Moving sucks. There's no right time to pack, I'm convinced that is a myth.
Next time I move, I'm just gonna walk away from most of my stuff and start fresh.

Simple, lovely post that we can all relate to in some way. Absolutely love, "And then I fail to accomplish any of them because I choose to sleep in instead. Happens every damn time." I hear ya haha

  19. April 25, 2014 / 9:54 am

Great post. Agree on the mani/pedi indulgence.
    good luck with the move!

My nightmare moving story actually happened when I was moving in Chicago. My roommate and I were moving and since we did not have access to a truck, we hired movers. The day we were moving, there were other girls also moving into our apartment. We were supposed to be moving out early enough to not overlap. Except to make a LONG story short, our movers never showed up. Seriously. Just did not come. It was pure panic. We were carrying all of smaller stuff down to the garage and our furniture into the hallway to let hte other girls move in. Luckily my roommate found another moving company willing to come on short notice. I have moving regardless, but I really do not miss having one of those everyone in the city is moving on the same day moves. Good luck!!
