The Happiest Place In Chicago

I tried so hard to make yesterday a good day. I really did. I got up early, worked out for a solid five minutes, drank a big green smoothie. It had all the makings of a nice little Monday.

But sometimes the universe just has other plans.

It all started going wrong when I accidentally pulled the bathroom sink off the wall. The ol’ “I just leaned on the sink a little too hard and it came crashing right down” story. I’m sure it’s happened to the best of us. One minute I was leaning on it trying to get a better view in the mirror of my “freckles” (sun spots) and the next minute the sink was on the floor.

Chris came running in and was like “what in the hell did you just do?”

That sink gave me a bad look. So I pulled the SOB down.

Then around 4 p.m. out of nowhere my throat started to hurt. Like the kind of hurt where it feels like there’s a huge dry rock in the back of it and you actually have to make an effort to breath.

At 2 a.m. I was wide awake gurgling peroxide. I’ve heard peroxide helps take the pain away when your throat really hurts…. It didn’t work. Although I will say the disgusting taste of peroxide in my mouth did distract me from the pain for about 45 seconds.

After the peroxide I ate a jar of coconut oil. The kids are calling it “oil pulling.” It’s supposed to work wonders. Makes your teeth whiter, skin clearer, boobs bigger, and I thought maybe just maybe it would make my throat feel better. It didn’t. But my hands feel nice today from all of the coconut oil I spilled on them.

After the peroxide I ate a box of nails. I was willing to try anything. Those helped a little.

So at 6:45 a.m. when my alarm went off I had slept about three hours. I got up to brush my teeth and I walked into the bathroom but I couldn’t turn on the water. The sink was still on the ground.

But alas, today’s a new day. And we’re going to make the best of it. I think a trip to the happiest place in Chicago is just what we need.

The dog beach. It’s my happy place. I get way too much joy out of watching dogs frolic in the water and pee on sand castles.

Harlow is learning to blow bubbles underwater. Isn’t that the cutest? If you’ve never taken your dog to the beach, please do so. You won’t regret it.

Now have a good day and be careful of those bathroom sinks. They’ll get you when you least expect it.

Glad to hear that no feet were broken with the collapse of your bathroom sink! Whoops!
Hope your throat gets to feeling better! Let me know if the coconut oil worked to make your boobs bigger; I've been searching for a solution for years.

You think in California, we'd have one of these….such a blast. Our Bella loooooves blowing bubbles in her kiddie pool and water dish. We call her the U-Boat Captain.

When my throat hurts I gargle warm salt water. It relieves the pain for a bit and supposedly the salt helps heal. Glad you made the best of it, though!
