The Honeymoon Pack List

In the beginning we thought about a European honeymoon. Chris wanted to road trip down the coast of France and Spain. I wanted to see Cinque Terre and the Amalfi Coast.
Sounds nice, right?
Driving in a teeny tiny car for hours and hours. And hours. Most likely arguing and saying things like, “how should I know where we are? I didn’t plan this.” And “I’m not trying to backseat drive but you were about to hit that bicyclist!” And my favorite, “fine pull over, I’ll drive. I don’t give a damn. I’ll drive. FINE.” *One of our favorite things to do on vacation is argue while driving.
And then spending our nights sleeping in “luxurious” European hotel rooms… I don’t doubt that France, Spain or Italy have nice hotels. I’ve just never had enough money to experience one.
And so after attending so many of our best friends’ weddings these past few months and coming back absolutely exhausted we figured we should opt for something a little more low key and relaxing.
We decided on a place where I can plant my happy ass in this very bathtub, with a book and a pina colada in my hands while I look out over the beautiful blue waters, all damn day if I please.

A little place of heaven called Antigua. With the second half of the trip spent in the British Virgin Islands.

And I am SO EXCITED. We both are. We’re like two little kids who have never been on a vacation before and are heading to Disney World next week. We even watched a short vid on Netflix last night called “Travel Antigua.” I’m not kidding. We’re those people. Fun fact: it’s pronounced An-tee-ga, not An-tee-gwa as I previously thought.

The last part of our trip will be spent in Tortola.

I’m currently sitting in a pile of t-shirt orders that need to be shipped just staring at these photos day dreaming of what lies ahead. So close, yet so far…

So what does one pack for ten days in paradise? Not much. Bikinis, coverups, and sun hats. And lots of books. I’m going for all the fluffy beach reads. So far I have The Vacationers and The Nest. If you have a good suggestion, let me know!

For coverups I’m going all in and bringing all the silly white tassel outfits like this romper, these shorts, and this beach dress, because WHY NOT?

Also packing a lot of bikinis similar to this striped off the shoulder top because they’re easy to wear under overalls -which I plan to wear frequently between going to the beach and walking to the beach bar.

And floral print everything. My fashion inspiration for this trip is DJ Tanner a la Tanner’s Hawaiian vacation. Thinking this crop and skirt and repeat.

Or maybe I should go for Uncle Jesse’s vibe since he’s obviously killing it.

Sadly, Chris informed me my pizza raft and new pizza towel (which I bought just for this trip, duh) have to stay home because the small planes we’re traveling on to each island charge $100000 for each extra suitcase. What’s a honeymoon without a giant pizza towel? I guess I’ll find out.

What other honeymooner insider tips should I know? If there’s something really important I’m forgetting to pack, do share. This is my first honeymoon.

I can't handle the Full House photo. Hilarious.

Looks like a beautiful place to go for a Honeymoon! Good choice, for sure. Europe is gorgeous, fun, etc. but I think there's something to be said about truly unwinding and relaxing some place tropical after a wedding (especially one that it sounds like you planned yourself…probably fun to some extent, but still stressful!). Can't wait to see how it all comes together 🙂 And to see alllll the vacay pictures.

Knock it out in t-shirt town today. You got this!

YES to using DJ Tanner as your inspo. Pack lots of sunscreen and a lot of IDGAF because your sole purpose on this trip is to relax and be all lovey dovey! Have fun!

Oh wow I love your list and your trip sounds amazing!!! Honestly the best advice we had for packing for our Costa Rican honeymoon was bug spray, sunscreen and meds! The antacids we brought were so essential lol. Can't wait to read all about it! Have a blast!

I second the suggestion to bring something like pepto.. Definitely needed it when we honeymooned in the bahamas. I brought "To Kill A Mockingbird" on my last beach trip and really enjoyed reading it. Use LOTS of sunscreen.

  6. July 13, 2016 / 11:42 am

I third the bringing of meds. My husband got pink eye our first day in Jamaica… a trip to the hotel Dr and $600 later he had the antibiotic drops he needed. The same drops we had sit ting at home! We definitely found the bar after that bill. Is your hotel all inclusive? I recommend bringing a larger insulated cup so you can get bigger drinks from the bar that actually stay cold and dont sweat. Athe the very least a can koozie. Happy honeymoon!

I am SO excited for our honeymoon too. Although Stephen has already informed me my giant flamingo float will also have to stay at home. After all the stress of wedding planning, I want to do nothing but lay on a beach and drink margaritas for six days, so I don't blame you one bit. It looks amazing!

Also we're super pumped for our Married AF shirts we ordered yesterday AND HAVE ALREADY SHIPPED. You are awesome! Happy Honeymooning! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Damn I thought it was Anteegwa!! That bathtub looks like literal heaven. Enjoy every single second. And I have never been on a honeymoon so no advice. But I have been on a lot of road trips and good call on scratching that idea lol. That is just asking for arguments. (And like, what if it was all driving the LEFT side of the road!!)

You're a girl after my own heart with the Full House reference. One of the best episodes ever, if you ask me. My biggest advice to you is don't forget sunscreen! Especially on an island where you probably only can buy it at the hotel/resort, they will charge you a ridiculous amount of money for it, so just pack all the bottles that you can.

Not to redneck up the joint-but my husband I took some tervis tumblers and koozies on our honeymoon-and they were used ALLOT! Also-bug spray. The USVI/BVI are amongst the most romantic spots-I am jealous:)

  12. July 13, 2016 / 1:03 pm

Oh I forgot one other thing-actually fairly useful. We did allot of boating in the BVI's-allot of bars are only accessibly by water-and you have to swim into them so to speak. Get a solid waterproof container/bag. I had to leave my phone/camera behind sometimes to avoid balancing it and drinks-while trying to swim. I wish I had brought a dry bag to make my life easier. Something to consider-they take up no room.

I'll be honeymooning in Panama City, FL because it was a free vacation package. 6 days by the beach – yes please! I definitely thought it was ant-ee-gwa too. Learned something new today! This looks gorgeous and happy honeymooning!

  14. July 13, 2016 / 2:19 pm

Tums + Bug Spray! After your 1000000th pina colada and eating more food than you do typically in a week, you're going to need the tums at about 2:30am! And I second Sara in regards to an all inclusive, we brought our 32oz Yeti cups and they will fill them to the brim!!! Have fun lady!

  15. July 13, 2016 / 4:16 pm

That sounds amazing! I would book a similar honeymoon in a heartbeat if I wasn't a pale redhead. Reading by the beach/pool sounds like the best way to decompress after the wedding. Have a fantastic time and try not to stress about t-shirt town!

  16. July 13, 2016 / 8:38 pm

That is SO exciting! I can't wait to hear all about the wedding and the honeymoon! I hope you post lots of pictures!

  17. July 14, 2016 / 8:00 pm

So jealous! If you have time while you're in Tortola, take a day sail on the Aristocat! They have great itineraries…..and there's a dog on the boat (which is why my friend and I chose them last month, cause priorities).

  18. July 16, 2016 / 3:57 pm

That looks like Cocobay! I went there on my honeymoon three years ago and it is so heavenly… by far the best vacation! Do a catamaran booze cruise through Wadadli Cats, but make sure to book it through the resort and not the people on the beach. Also eat the lobster every night and when you order pina coladas ask for a splash of dark rum on top. Have the best time!!
