How To Get Healthy and Pose In Restaurants Wearing Yoga Clothes

I hope you didn’t think I was done with the self-helpy posts already. Because I assure you I am not.

The last three things I want to cover are ….

  1. What I’m hoping to rid myself of in 2018 (this one is tough, so it will come last.)
  2. How to move beyond just reading posts about good vibes, and actually take some action to get those good vibes. This will be my favorite post to share, because I love everything it entails.
  3. And today’s post is going to be short and sweet because the previous two I just mentioned are taking me a little longer to write than expected. So today is about the basics: water, pilates, and other healthy things. Exciting, right? So exciting! But believe it or not, this “basic stuff” plays such a huge part in my overall happiness and ability to get shit done, so I guess it’s worth mentioning.

Now here’s a photo of me in workout gear at a restaurant. Neat!

Drink more water.

It’s the thing that everyone says makes such a huge difference, that so many of us know makes a huge difference, and yet so few of us actually do it. Myself included (or used to anyway.)

Last fall I went to the doctor because I was having such severe headaches every afternoon that I’d have to take a nap or I couldn’t keep my eyes open without seeing dots. She asked me a few questions, pretended to write stuff down on her notepad while really just writing “jackass” over and over, I assume; and then looked at me like I was an idiot and said, “You’re dehydrated. Drink more water.” Then she handed me a bill and I walked out.

So. Simple.

So why did I have to pay a doctor to tell me this? I don’t know. Because I like to do things the hard way I guess. Fast forward six months and I don’t get headaches anymore, I have more energy, and I don’t have my 2:00 p.m. freakout nearly as often.

**2:00 p.m. freakout = this insane hour in the afternoon when I choose to go nuts about everything. Problems in my past:check! Problems in my future: you betcha! Problems that certainly will never happen but I go down that rabbit hole anyway: WHY NOT! Let’s. Get. Nervous. ABOUT EVERYTHING!**

And that, my friends, is my 2 p.m. freakout hour. It’s like happy hour except 100 x more terrifying!

But back to water. This magical thing happens when you drink more of it where your skin actually starts to look better too. Who knew? Basically everyone but me.

You know what else is good for the mind and body? Vitamins! Yay.

I used to go to Target and be totally overwhelmed by the vitamin aisle so I’d buy the same thing every time: Vitamin C (because it’s basically the California Roll of vitamins) and fish oil (because magazines told me to) and hair & nail pills because I’m not sure.

Until one fateful day when a blogger I like (a fit happy mother to a lot of fit happy kids) talked about the vitamins she swears by. Was she lying to me know for the sake of selling something? Perhaps. But I didn’t care. She seemed to have so much more energy than me, and overall zest for life, all while being the mother of 100 kids, so I was like what the hell? I’ll give it a try too.

Thus we have Care/Of. A site where you take a very quick survey, tell the all-knowing computer what areas you want to improv with your health (as well as how much alcohol you drink) and then they tailor a pack of vitamins especially for you.

I signed up for 5 pills a day, for one month and the price was about $25- give or take. If you use the code DAILY25 at checkout, you’ll receive 25% off your first order.

I’m only one month in, but so far I really like it. It takes the guessing game out of what vitamins I should be taking for my age/my current concerns.

And as for my workout, nothing much has changed since I wrote this post. I’m still loving pilates and still walking 3-5 miles a day with Har. It’s all about… moderation! Groundbreaking stuff here, I should probably write a book soon.

As you can probably tell, I’m getting itchy to move onto something else so I’m going to have to wrap this up now.

Yay 2018! We’re killing it! Bye!

*Not a sponsored post by Care/Of, but if you do choose to use my discount code I’ll will get a kickback to buy Harlow more fancy treats 🙂

I used to not “believe” in vitamins but I have been taking prenatal vitamins and the change in my hair and nail growth (much faster!) alone has convinced me they do something — so I’ll probably keep taking them forever!

Side note: If you ever struggle with anxiety (& who doesn’t have a 2pm freakout— mines that I still have at least 3 hrs at work) my acupuncturist told me to take magnesium supplements. I researched it a bit and Dr. Google agrees!

    Also you look fab!

Look into drinkdown64.com. It’s a cute little water bottle to help you drink more water AND they donate part of their profits to animal rescue 🙂 I thought of you as soon as I saw it!

What’s this water you speak of? Is that like iced coffee?
