I got up at 5:30 a.m. yesterday AND today.
You can always tell when I get up early because I will tell you, as it’s a very big deal to me. I’m such a “17 hours of sleep kinda gal” that forcing myself to wake up early makes me feel as if I’ve conquered the world. I watched some motivational speaker on Instagram where she said in order to “beat your snooze habit” all that you have to do when you hear your alarm is count back from 5,4,3,2,1 and then your brain will be awake and you’ll be able to get up and be a better human and ext ext.
So I tried it yesterday when my alarm went off at 5:00 a.m.. The last thing I remember is 5, 4, and then I fell back asleep between 4 and 3 for about 30 minutes until my alarm went off again 5:30. But by golly, at 5:30, I said okay world, let’s do this!
I’m trying to write and get a bunch of work done before I head back to Nebraska for Father’s Day and also for a skin graft surgery being done on my mouth! Spoiler: the new skin isn’t coming from my own body. Can’t wait!
Without further ado, I’m going to jump headfirst into one of those lazy/random “facts about me/products or things I’m loving right now/this post will either be helpful of useless” kind of posts! Woo hoo! Enjoy!
*I started adding coconut water to my smoothies rather than just regular water and my mind is blown. I understand now why everyone else has been doing this forever. It’s a game changer.
Current summer smoothie recipe: 1 banana, spinach, chunk of avocado, mango, chia seeds, coconut water and ice.
*I started and finished The Woman in the Window in about two days. Guys, I really really liked this one. It moves super fast and really kept my attention.
*Speaking of reading, I just added a fiction tab to my blog up top… (please don’t click on my other tabs at this point, they’re still a mess.) I’m either going to add my current reads, or share some of my own fiction I’m working on. Because if there’s one thing people say it’s, “you know what I wish bloggers shared more of? Their own personal fiction writing!”
Lol jk. But I may still share because accountability! If you’re also trying to write something, I stumbled across this article yesterday and really liked it. Give it a read.
*I watched one of my favorite summer movies last night, The Way Way Back. There’s nothing particularly exciting about this movie, but I absolutely love the story and the characters and will watch it ten times before the summer is over. What’s your favorite summer movie?
*The summer solstice is next week. Does anyone else get secretly sad on this day because it’s like we’ve been waiting forever to get to longer nights and suddenly we’re back on the other side of days getting shorter?
It always gets to me.
*The 4th of July is coming. So this is your friendly reminder to call your vet for anxiety meds for your dog, or order these calming chews, or a thunder jacket. I do all three for Harlow. We stick to the chews during the day, and then bring out the jacket and the vet pills at night when things get super loud. I hate how upset he gets this time of year. 🙁
One more stripey thing I have to mention, this tank top I’m wearing in the pic below (and wear at least three times a week because it’s an easy one like that) is only $13. It comes in five colors and I suggest you order at least 100.
And yes, the new Ketel One Botanicals is really that good. I’m in a campaign with them at the moment on Instagram (thus all the photos) however mentioning them here is by no means a requirement, I’m just that passionate about finding a good new summer drink. 🙂 Just add soda water and a lime or lemon and you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
*I’ve started using this new under eye cream (you know how I love my under eye creams) and it’s awesome! Great for dark circles and it smells wonderful.
Last but not least, get your USA sweatshirt orders in 🙂 Thank you in advance.
And this concludes my affiliate link heavy post for the week. If you clicked on something, I may make a small commission. Said commission will be used at the Pet Store Harlow savagely drags me into every single day we walk past it.
Now if you don’t mind me, I’ve got to pack for Nebraska. What does one wear to a five year old’s birthday party….
