The Daily Tay's Best Week Ever

Friday, August 16, 2013

Pulling out another late Friday afternoon post today, my apologies on that! I spent the better half of my morning freshening up my 'do at a little salon downtown by the name of Desdimi.

The photo is a little grainy, but I'm pretty sure you can tell I went super crazy with my new style.
(As usual.)

I mean would you look at that side-bang? People probably won't even be able to recognize me now. What can I say? I'm the type of girl who is always changing my looks.

All in all, I am super pleased with the fresh new trim Danka gave me and especially the wonderful color. It just says "fall blonde" don't you think? Definitely.

Anyway, I've been searching long and hard for the past few days trying to figure out who should be included on this week's Best Week Ever. But it's been a bit of a downer week, I've gotta say. I mean first Gia from Bachelor Jake dies of an apparent suicide.  C'mon now I really liked Gia. Damn it Jake and his stupid decision to choose Vienna.

And then my favorite older sister, Lori, from that 70s Show dies on her way to rehab? Whatttt? Stop it. What next? Is someone going to tell me aliens are real? .....

Whether I like it or not, it's time for another edition of The Daily Tay's Best Week Ever.

I guess I could start with the fact that conspiracy theorists might be having a pretty great week as it's finally been confirmed that Area 51 does in fact exist. But am I alone with my initial sixth-grade reaction of DUH?!

I thought it was confirmed ages ago that this site was indeed real. You know with that one movie, Mars Attacks? Or Pineapple Express? I'm pretty sure no one is surprised by this "announcement" of sorts. Show me some aliens floating around in test tubes or I'm not impressed.

And it kills me to write this next one, but apparently Katy Perry is probably dancing in a cloud of cotton candy as we speak because her single has officially surpassed Lady Gaga's single for the week.

I can appreciate and understand the fact that Katy makes good music (according to twelve-year-old- girls) but it's just not necessarily my type of music. I guess I just find it hard to take someone seriously who goes out on stage dressed like a pad of candy buttons. Again no judgement, just not my thing. I'm not saying Gaga is my thing either. But if given the choice between candy buttons or a meat dress, I'd probably choose a meat dress.

Moving right along, a recent study revealed that babies being born right now are bigger than ever before. Some as big as sixteen pounds!!! Which can only mean one thing, Baby Weight Watchers and Baby Spanks are about to be having the best week ever. It's just a matter of time really.

Can you imagine sixteen pounds? That's a lot of baby to come out of one person. Wonder if it came out eating a cheeseburger.

Enough with the silly stories. By far, the best thing I've heard this week is about the talented young basketball player from Georgia, Zach Hodskins, who was just offered a spot to play at the University of Florida. And did I mention Zach only has one full arm?

This guy is incredible. He makes me feel like a real jerk for ever complaining about anything, or for ever finding an excuse to be lazy in general. He has worked so hard and overcome every single odd thrown against him and yet the only thing he asks is that people think of him as a "ball player" first, and maybe just maybe, an inspiration second.

Like CBS sports website said, "You can learn a lot about a guy by reading his Twitter feed. Egomaniacs tell us what they had for lunch. Mean people tweet mean stuff. Illogical people tweet illogically. Zach Hodskins tweets encouragement to strangers."

Check out his Twitter @Z_B0 to see how amazingly encouraging this kid is to everyone he comes across.

And on that note, I need to get outside and enjoy this lovely Chicago weather while it's still here. Have a great weekend, enjoy the last few of summer we've still got!

  1. Your hair looks great! I like the length. I thought Area 51 existing was something people know about... I mean, I've heard about it. Was it supposed to be a secret? A 16 pound baby is just plain horrifying. I couldn't imagine.

  2. Love your new do! I'm feeling like I need a nice fall transition and thought about bangs but I'll probably freak out and hate them like I usually do... what to do what to do...

And umm a girl I know just delivered a 10.5 baby with NO drugs. No effing way. Juice me up if a baby that big is coming out of a pin hole.

  3. I'm choosing the candy buttons dress but at least we won't be wearing the same thing. Love heartfelt stories, thanks for bringing it to my attention!

  4. 16-pound baby! Holy crap. I had a 9lb baby and thank goodness for epidurals. I sat on a friggin' donut for like a week!

  5. The picture of Baby Spanks cracked me up! I can't even imagine giving birth to a 16-pound baby. Ow.

  6. I didn't know that Area 51 was still a secret! Also, that basketball player is great!

  7. What?!? Gia with the DSL's died of suicide? Where have I been? Wow-- thanks for posting the baby weight news.. I now know that God really doesn't give us more than we can handle and last week's miscarriage happened for a reason. There's no WAY a few stitches could have helped if I had finished the pregnancy and delivered a 16lb'er! Happy Friday Tay!

  8. I think the pad of candies would be an AWESOME Halloween costume ... if you were like 19. And, I totally had to google Area 51. :( I know someone who had TWO 12 lb. babies .... through the vadge. Craziness. Happy Weekend!!

  9. That story about Zach is incredible! I'm adding him on twitter NOW!

  10. I think your hair salon tweets more than made up for the late post!

  11. I always figured everyone knew about Area 51, funny that they would come out and announce something everyone already knows about.. Government :)
Katy Perry and Lady GaGa both have some really interesting fashion choices.. kudos to them for being so.. well whatever they are.
Love the new 'do! Have a fabulous weekend!

  12. You hair looks great! And baby spanx!? Hahahah!!

Hope you're having a good weekend!!
